Weld Wire and Lot Tracking

Lot Tracked items require entry of a lot number and expiration date during the receiving process. All transactions that affect inventory require entry of the corresponding lot number. Issue of material that has expired is not allowed.

Weld Wire/Rod Material provides Employee and Job level tracking of Weld Wire and/or Weld rod issuance, its return and actual usage. Due to various industry requirements we actually have 3 different weld wire Issue/Return programs.

Method #1

This method is used by facilities that require verification of the lot (heat number) being issued to work on a specific job.

  Information entered by crib attendant:
  • Employee ID number
  • Work document number
  • Work Order
  • Weld Identification
  • Welding Procedure
  • Item (material) ID
  • Heat Number
  • Purchase Order Number
  • QA - Quality Assurance Flag (optional)
  • CN - Usage Flag (optional)
  • QA Reference #    (optional)
  • Quantity Issued / Returned (by piece or pound)

Method #2

This method interfaces with a Welder Assignment program which verifies that the welder is good for a specific type of material and process and sends a transaction to ATICTS which states what wire should be issued to that individual.

  Information entered by crib attendant:
  • Employee ID number
  • Authorizing badge number
  • Box Number
  • Item (material) ID
  • Process Code
  • Heat Number
  • Flux Lot
  • Quantity Issued / Returned (by piece or pound)

Method #3

Used by facilities which are not required to track heat numbers on material used. It is an extremely fast and efficient method of issuing wire while still maintaining EPA required information. The Return process clears the employee’s record of all material and records all of it as used.

  Information entered by crib attendant:
  • Employee ID number
  • Item (material) ID
  • Quantity Issued (whole number only)
